Warm up Places to See in Ukraine
The teacher's greeting. Good morning, students! I'm glad to see you How are you?
Students revise sounds |ou] and [э:]. The rhyme is on the black board (or in the handouts):
A wise old owl lived in an oak. The more he saw the less he spoke. The less he spoke the more he heard. Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?
Checking on homework
Students (selectively) read their works.
The teacher can use ex. 1, p. 142 for the game. The teacher chooses
a narrator. He/she ask students about the pictures, and students ans
wer them. The first student answered correctly becomes a narrator.

□ Is there a church (cathedral) in picture 5? — No, there isn't. ThereJ
is a monument. a Do you see a school or a castle in picture 6? - I see a school. Etc.
Introducing the topic
Teacher presents the topic of the lesson. The teacher can prepare some pictures or computer presentation to introduce. First, the teacherj shows the pictures to students, and they try to guess what the topic is, and what cities are on the pictures. Then, the teacher offers student! to listen to the text (ex. 3, p. 143).
After listening students read the text (A and В parts in two groups) and answer the questions (ex. 4, p. 143). Before reading the teacher have to pay students' attention to pronunciation of some names such as Potemkin Stairs. Primorskiy Boulevard etc.
Vocabulary practice. To practise vocabulary, students do ex. 2, p. 143 (orally) and check it in class.
Suggested answers (variants are possible): 1 bridge; 2 park; 3 monument/square; 4 castle/churches; 5 supermarket; 6 museum.
The teacher makes movements with the students. Teacher uses any rhyme for physical exercises. For example:
Marching onwards through the night.
Marching till the morning light.
Even though your boots are tight.
March right on with all you might.
Students read the texts A and В (ex. 6, p. 144) in two groups. Their task is to introduce themselves and talk about the place where they live as in the example. While on student speaks others make notes about location and the most interesting fact about the city/town/village.
Students have to complete the table (ex. 5, p. 144). They have to write the names of all mentioned at the lesson cities/towns/villages.
Homework Places to See in Ukraine
Ex. 7, p. 144; to make as a project (particular sheet of paper, pictures).
Summary and feedback
The teacher summarizes the work by asking for students' feedback.
